An O-ring is a torus or donut shaped ring which is typically constructed from materials such as silicone, neoprene, nitrile rubber or fluorocarbon. O-Rings are typically used for mechanical sealing applications to create a tight seal between two objects. O-rings are designed to sit in a groove which will hold them in place so that the ring can then be compressed between the two surfaces.
